OUR STORY

Since 1995, Wauchope Arts has provided a diverse range of cultural experiences, including live music, theatre, film, workshops & exhibitions.

Our program includes incredible national and international acts, and showcases local artists. Patrons travel from across the Mid North Coast to experience the intimacy, acoustics and ambience of our small timber hall.

Come along to find out why so many world-class artists keep returning to “one of the best live music experiences on the coast ”. Better still, become a member or join our team of volunteers to enjoy amazing art and entertainment.

OUR HISTORY

Wauchope and surrounding hamlets were home to many creatives who relocated from the cities during the eighties. Writers, actors, visual artists and musicians instigated a number of arts and cultural activities that transformed the community.

In 1995 we formed Wauchope Community Arts Council under the umbrella of Arts NSW. Our motto, “Arts from the Heart” is a fitting description of what we do. We are committed to community cultural development, enrichment, support and collaboration.

WE ARE A PASSIONATE GROUP OF VOLUNTEERS

Most of our committee members have day jobs as teachers, nurses, business owners, disability workers, and artists or are active retirees. We happily volunteer because it enhances our lives, and provides a better, more vibrant local environment and the opportunity for enriching experiences for the Wauchope community and beyond. Since 1997 we have managed the Wauchope Community Arts Centre for Port Macquarie Hastings Council, providing an accessible and affordable cultural centre for Wauchope and beyond and a meeting place for local groups.

Our venue is renowned as one of the “BEST LIVE MUSIC EXPERIENCES ON THE COAST” and attracts musicians and performances of extraordinary quality and audiences from all over the mid north coast.

The Arts Hall is used for yoga, choir, home-schooling and creative workshops.
