Welcome to Wauchope Arts

Welcome to our home on the web. This is where you find out what’s happening at Wauchope Arts as well as other community arts news. This site provides an information service to our members and anyone who is interested in attending or getting involved in the events and activities offered by the Wauchope Community Arts Council. We are a group of passionate volunteers who value the role of the arts in community building and we aim to provide diverse cultural experiences for Wauchope and beyond.

The Wauchope Community Arts Hall is just that - community. It is one of the most intimate venues in the Hastings that attracts acts of extraordinary quality and it feels as if they are playing in your lounge room with a bunch of your best friends.

.... it's all happening at the Wauchope Arts Hall

- American folk and bluegrass duo
One year after the release of 'Weight of the World'**, American folk and bluegrass duo '10 String Symphony' is touring Australia and will stop at Wauchope Arts following performances at the Patchewollock, Dorrigo and Froggy Mountain festivals.
5-string fiddle players Rachel Baiman and Christian Sedelmyer formed 10 String Symphony in 2012, and won many Australian fans at Dorrigo Folk & Bluegrass and JamGrass Festivals that year.
Rachel, a former Illinois state fiddle champion, has appeared with Sheryl Crow and Brandi Carlile, and Christian has appeared alongside Emmylou Harris, Buddy Miller and Alison Brown.
Though they play acoustic music, their rock influence is apparent in their arrangements as they move listeners through an emotional journey.
Despite the use of clawhammer banjo and percussion, their mission statement remains clear - two voices; two fiddles; epic music.

** 'Weight of the World hit #3 on the Billboard Bluegrass charts.

Junk Fest
JunkFest is a feel-good event, where art and junk collide in a creative and sustainable way.
Spend the afternoon wandering a market* full of pre-loved treasures, enjoy homemade afternoon tea and be entertained by recycled love songs.
Join creative enviro workshops with Frugal Arts, learn how to weave from recycled materials and to use old fabrics to bring furniture to life.
Find out how to make your own eco cleaning products in a session hosted by Midwaste.
Buy a raffle ticket for chance to win a 'Waste to Wonder' mosaic table created by artist Krissa Wilkinson.
The markets and music will be under the trees in Bain Park, and will include "junk music" featuring instruments assembled from recycled materials and unusual castoffs, performed by local band, Stix n Stonz.
Join the group making bunting for the Arts Hall, or just wander the market, listen to the music, and enjoy the laidback atmosphere.
Bring a plate and stay on for a shared meal from 6-7pm before the show, which includes an appearance by Bella Bago Choir.
The highlight of the day will be Mic Conway's National Junk Band. Their brand new show has received rave reviews, and they will be accompanied for a couple of tunes by Port Macquarie’s Ukestra.
Venue: Bain Park and the Wauchope Arts Hall
(wet weather venue Wauchope Arts Hall)
Time: from 4pm Saturday November 12, 2016
Tickets for Mic Conway's show at the door from 6.45pm (no online sales)

“There is nothing else like a Mic Conway show... an exhilarating, vaudevillian mix of songs, magic, comedy and fire-eating. He is a truly unique artist and a showman... You really do have to be there. If you have a chance, don't miss it.”

Catch Irish dynamite Wallis Bird on her way to Woodford!
Wallis's expressive vocals and driving guitar rhythms have been compared to artists like Ani DiFranco or the young Janis Joplin. Her exceptional voice moves from delicate whispers to explosive cries in a heartbeat.
Now based in Berlin, Bird has played over 600 shows in Europe and won two Irish Music Awards.
Every performance is characterised by an almost startling passion; one that frequently leaves Bird breathless and her acoustic guitar strings shredded to pieces. Her refreshingly honest, self-effacing manner has endeared her to audiences worldwide.
With a new album in the mix, Bird is finally making her first ever appearance in Australia, with a tour that includes Woodford, Cygnet and Illawarra Folk Festivals, plus east coast headline shows, including Wauchope Arts.

*ONLINE TICKET SALES - www.trybooking.com
Wauchope Arts is trialling a system where a portion of some event tickets is available for purchase online - this is the preferred option for some performers, and it's a convenient way for audience members to purchase tickets.
A quantity of tickets will be also available for sale at the door for each event.
Given the Arts Hall is a small venue, it can be difficult to seat everyone, so we have adopted a No-Reserved-Seating policy - this means seats are allocated on arrival, so please arrive on time!
If the TryBooking website indicates an event is SOLD OUT, you can enquire how many tickets have been held for sale the door by SMS message to 0429 854 733.
We always strive to support members, particular those who support Wauchope Arts by regularly attending events, so if you experience any problems, please provide your feedback by email - webmaster@wauchopearts.org.au.
Thank you for your ongoing support and patience during this trial phase.
