MIRIAM LIEBERMAN TRIO (April 7, 2017)
- a world singer songwriter with a unique global perspective
Miriam Lieberman is a singer songwriter known not only for her unmistakable voice and songwriting, but for playing the 21 string West African harp, known as the kora.
Miriam draws her influences from far and wide – having most notably spent time studying traditional music in West Africa where local musicians inspired her unique style.
Her songs seamlessly blend African influences with folk-infused melodies to create a collection of stories, beautifully told through strings, powerful lyrics and her emotive voice.
Miriam has toured extensively with her trio around the country and performed at festivals internationally including Japan, Mali and Guinea.
The line-up for Miriam’s trio this time includes Susie Bishop on violin and backing vocals, and Jessica Dunn on double bass and backing vocals.

SUPPORT ACT - U4RiA
U4RiA’s arrangements bring a quirky twist and carefully crafted harmonies to contemporary tunes, original compositions and some old favourites in an acoustic set that features a variety of instruments and genres.

“Miriam Lieberman: Something of a renaissance woman… somehow she achieves the almost impossible in blending patterned western-ed pop writing with the earthy mystique of African rhythms and freaky world instruments.”

SARAH CARROLL & THE LEFT WING (April 29, 2017)
- energetic yet organic, celebratory yet cool
Sarah Carroll (Ukulele Queen of the Bellarine) is an original singer/songwriter, well known for her work with The Junes, The Cartridge Family, The Pirates Of Beer and partner Chris Wilson, and most recently, Aine Tyrrell and Jackie Marshall.
She loves country music, the bossa nova and has rhythm and blues in her heart!
Sarah has performed at most of Australia’s high-profile festivals over a 25 year career, and is known for her earthy, wry and heartfelt songs, driving guitar and ukulele rhythms.
She launched her new album, Star Parade, at Port Fairy in March with new band The Left Wing, featuring ace producer and multi-instrumentalist Leigh Ivin on guitars and her supernaturally talented son George on bass.
The album features a touching ode to her now deceased 1979 Premier station wagon, “Heaven is my Holden with the windows down”.

“She is one of the most under-rated genuinely Australian artists getting about today.” Jackie Marshall

“Sarah Carroll is not only a national treasure; she is a renewable resource.” Gleny Rae Virus

*ONLINE TICKET SALES - www.trybooking.com
Wauchope Arts is trialling a system where a portion of some event tickets is available for purchase online - this is the preferred option for some performers, and it's a convenient way for audience members to purchase tickets.
A quantity of tickets will be also available for sale at the door for each event.
Given the Arts Hall is a small venue, it can be difficult to seat everyone, so we have adopted a No-Reserved-Seating policy - this means seats are allocated on arrival, so please arrive on time!
If the TryBooking website indicates an event is SOLD OUT, you can enquire how many tickets have been held for sale the door by SMS message to 0429 854 733.
We always strive to support members, particular those who support Wauchope Arts by regularly attending events, so if you experience any problems, please provide your feedback by email - webmaster@wauchopearts.org.au.
