Catch Irish dynamite Wallis Bird on her way to Woodford!
Wallis's expressive vocals and driving guitar rhythms have been compared to artists like Ani DiFranco or the young Janis Joplin. Her exceptional voice moves from delicate whispers to explosive cries in a heartbeat.
Now based in Berlin, Bird has played over 600 shows in Europe and won two Irish Music Awards.
Every performance is characterised by an almost startling passion; one that frequently leaves Bird breathless and her acoustic guitar strings shredded to pieces. Her refreshingly honest, self-effacing manner has endeared her to audiences worldwide.
With a new album in the mix, Bird is finally making her first ever appearance in Australia, with a tour that includes Woodford, Cygnet and Illawarra Folk Festivals, plus east coast headline shows, including Wauchope Arts.

- traditional Irish music in a modern, creative context
Deeply rooted in the tradition, FourWinds produce an exciting landscape of tunes and lyrics, delivering a truly unique musical experience.
Recent winners of the prestigious Danny Kyle Award, presented by the Celtic Connections festival board, FourWinds has also been a finalist in the Rising Stars Competition, held by The Gathering in Killarney, Ireland. The band has performed as FourWinds since 2013 however Daoiri, Tom, Caroline and Robbie have toured extensively throughout Europe, Canada and America in both solo and group contexts (The Daoiri Farrell Band, Solid Clarity and Tom Delany and Caroline Keane duo), sharing the stage with such renowned musicians as Paddy Keenan, The Chieftains, Tommy O'Sullivan, De Temps Antan, FullSet, Muireann NicAmhlaoibh, Karen Tweed and many more.
Daoiri Farrell (Vocals & bouzouki) has a versatile repertoire of Irish traditional songs, humorous ballads, songs of exile and popular contemporary songs.
Caroline Keane (Concertina & whistles) has been exposed from a young age to the richness of West Limerick and Sliabh Luachra traditional music, an influence which has become the cornerstone of her uniquely vibrant, passionate and emotive style of concertina playing.
Robbie Walsh (Bodhrán, percussions & backing vocals) hails from Dublin; after winning the all Ireland bodhrán title in 2008, he went on to become a full time musician. His powerful modern style is one of the foundations of the sound of the band.
Tom Delany (Uilleann pipes & whistles) has an Irish father and French mother, and hence has gained his musicality through osmosis, born and raised in a rich environment of Irish music. Inspired by the traveling style of piping, his rhythmic playing is powerful and daring.

- a film produced and written by Margot Nash
A personal essay documentary about the tangled bonds, secret histories and unspoken traumas of family life, that stretches from New Zealand to the Australian suburbs.
The Silences is an exploration of early childhood and the “silences” of the past that resonate in the present. It draws upon a wealth of photographs, letters, oral histories, documentary footage and clips from the filmmaker’s previous work.
It unfolds a mother’s story of lost opportunities, lost love and grief; a father’s story of work, mental illness and war; and a daughter’s story of trying to piece together a more complex picture of the confusing ties of love, loss and kinship between a mother and daughter
Film-maker Margot Nash will introduce the film and be available for a Q&A afterward.
