Welcome to Wauchope Arts

Welcome to our home on the web. This is where you find out what’s happening at Wauchope Arts as well as other community arts news. This site provides an information service to our members and anyone who is interested in attending or getting involved in the events and activities offered by the Wauchope Community Arts Council. We are a group of passionate volunteers who value the role of the arts in community building and we aim to provide diverse cultural experiences for Wauchope and beyond.

The Wauchope Community Arts Hall is just that - community. It is one of the most intimate venues in the Hastings that attracts acts of extraordinary quality and it feels as if they are playing in your lounge room with a bunch of your best friends.

MOLSKY'S MOUNTAIN DRIFTERS (Thursday Jan 4, 2018)
- tradition steeped in possibility
Molsky's Mountain Drifters packs a punch with three of the most captivating performers in the most recent generation of Old-Time and American Roots music.
The band features Bruce Molsky, (Grammy nominated, revered Old-Time music ambassador and Berklee College of Music Visiting Scholar) along with guitar genre bender Stash Wyslouch (of the Deadly Gentlemen) on guitar and vocals and master of the clawhammer banjo, Allison de Groot (of The Goodbye Girls).
These striking musicians have come together for a new sound within the traditional music genre through their audacious approach.
“I was looking for a new voice,” says Molsky, “a new avenue of expression using old time mountain music as the jumping-off point, but not being constrained by hard core traditionalism.
Allison and Stash are showing me the way, just where the music is headed, in directions I never would have imagined when I started my own journey into the mountains a long time ago.”
Jim, Sue & Greg will open the show.

THE RAILSPLITTERS (Thursday Jan 11, 2018)
- unconventional Colorado bluegrass
Although rooted in traditional bluegrass and old time music, The Railsplitters push the boundaries with their lush harmonies, instrumental virtuosity and unusual songwriting.
Hailing from the Rocky Mountains, the Railsplitters enjoy the time on the road, playing to audiences all across the globe. Their line-up features Lauren Stovall and her 'Emmylou-esque' vocals in the lead, Dusty Rider's melodically intricate banjo licks, Peter Sharpe's Brazilian and bluesy flare on mandolin, Joe D'Esposito's New-England and Italian inspired fiddling and the ever-so-groovy Jean-Luc Davis on the double bass.
The Railsplitters have won multiple awards and have successfully crowd-funded all three of their studio albums. To celebrate the band's 5th anniversary a new album will be released featuring 10 tracks of all new, genre bending, original music.
Jeremiah Johnson will open the show.

ROUNDING OUT 2017
There's no doubt we're finishing on a high!

*ONLINE TICKET SALES - www.trybooking.com
Wauchope Arts is trialling a system where a portion of some event tickets is available for purchase online - this is the preferred option for some performers, and it's a convenient way for audience members to purchase tickets.
A quantity of tickets will be also available for sale at the door for each event.
Given the Arts Hall is a small venue, it can be difficult to seat everyone, so we have adopted a No-Reserved-Seating policy - this means seats are allocated on arrival, so please arrive on time!
If the TryBooking website indicates an event is SOLD OUT, you can enquire how many tickets have been held for sale the door by SMS message to 0429 854 733.
We always strive to support members, particular those who support Wauchope Arts by regularly attending events, so if you experience any problems, please provide your feedback by email - webmaster@wauchopearts.org.au.
Thank you for your ongoing support and patience during this trial phase.
