JUSTIN BERNASCONI (Sat August 26, 2017)
- album launch tour, with Cat Canteri
In May 2017 Justin Bernasconi released Barefoot Wonderland, his second album of folk guitar music.
Justin's style explores bluegrass, country, folk and blues - it’s a wonderful blend of English and American styles, full of colour, control and tone, mixed with strong songwriting and storytelling.
Songs with vocals appear intermittently on the album, which showcases his exemplary playing.
Justin is heading up the highway from Melbourne, and will stop in at Wauchope to deliver a relaxed but engaging Saturday evening show of eclectic folk music featuring plenty of slide guitar, finger-picking, flat-picking and vocal harmonies, as well storytelling, laughs and personal anecdotes.
Cat Canteri will open the set and accompany Justin as well.

A display and oral history presentation on Friday and Saturday afternoons will include snippets from the radio program "If those walls could talk". On the Saturday night, a classic Australian film will be shown, with choc-tops available for sale (of course)!. TENZIN CHOEGYAL, TARO TERAHARA AND SHEN FLINDELL (Sat Sept 16, 2017)
- a unique and mesmerizing blend of traditional Tibetan, Japanese and Indian sounds
Born to a family of Tibetan nomads and forced into exile as a child, Tenzin Choegyal would listen to his mother singing in the nomadic style of Tibet.
Today, Tenzin is an outstanding vocalist and master of the three-string dranyen lute and the lingbu bamboo flute and is considered one of the world’s finest musicians.
Now based in Brisbane, Tenzin has played at WOMAD festivals, and alongside Philip Glass and Patti Smith at several Concerts for Tibet at Carnegie Hall, New York .
He made his first appearance at Woodford Folk Festival in 1997, and still plays to packed audiences each year.
In addition to his solo performances, Tenzin has been an avid collaborator with musicians from diverse cultures and genres. He recently worked with Philip Glass on the breathtaking score for the film 'The Last Dalai Lama?' and toured Japan with Taro Terahara.
Described by veteran Australian journalist Simon Reeve as “one of the planet's great human beings” the Wauchope Arts team is thrilled to welcome back Tenzin Choegyal, who will perform with bansuri master Taro Terahara and Australia's leading tabla player Shen Flindell.
Tickets available online, plus and a small quantity will be available at the door from 7.30pm.
Note: this performance is likely to be a sell-out.

*ONLINE TICKET SALES - www.trybooking.com
Wauchope Arts is trialling a system where a portion of some event tickets is available for purchase online - this is the preferred option for some performers, and it's a convenient way for audience members to purchase tickets.
A quantity of tickets will be also available for sale at the door for each event.
Given the Arts Hall is a small venue, it can be difficult to seat everyone, so we have adopted a No-Reserved-Seating policy - this means seats are allocated on arrival, so please arrive on time!
If the TryBooking website indicates an event is SOLD OUT, you can enquire how many tickets have been held for sale the door by SMS message to 0429 854 733.
We always strive to support members, particular those who support Wauchope Arts by regularly attending events, so if you experience any problems, please provide your feedback by email - webmaster@wauchopearts.org.au.
Thank you for your ongoing support and patience during this trial phase.
